Terms of Labor

November 3, 2023 by Lincoln and Alisha McIlroy

We probably all know Proverbs 16:9- “The mind of a person plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.” It turns out, this is true with the birth of babies, too. We were visiting my parents in Starbuck, WA last weekend when Alisha went into early labor. She wasn’t due for four more weeks, so we thought we had some time still. We found out God had other plans.
We had planned to have the baby in Spokane, but early Sunday morning Alisha went in to labor, so we drove to Walla Walla since it was closer. Our new baby Desmond made his appearance later that night. We stayed in the hospital for a few days, mainly because Desmond was a little premature. Both he and Alisha are doing well now. This is actually the first time Alisha went into labor naturally- with the other three, she was induced each time.
We want to thank you all for your prayers over the last several months. Since Alisha had some issues with her other pregnancies, we were a little concerned that something could happen; but God answered our prayers! This has obviously been on our minds since we found out she was expecting and it is a relief to have both Alisha and Desmond in good health.
So now that the baby is here, we are expecting to go back to the field in about four months, give or take. We are starting the process of getting his birth certificate and other paperwork necessary for our return.

So thank you all again for all your prayers during this time! We are grateful to have our new son and have everyone healthy!
