TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR BIBLE

April 26, 2008 by

The Wusuraambyan believers are studying God`s Word.

Last week, over 40 of  NTM’s brightest language and translation consultants met here in Sanford to learn from one another.  While some have completed Bible translations, many are still in the process translating God’s Word into  the heart language of a tribal people.

Ayore men helping translation consultants  Watching them walk around the NTM complex, interacting and visiting with the staff here in Sanford, you get a sense of how very ‘ordinary’ they are but how ‘extra-ordinary’ is their task.  The dedication on their faces is the result of their intense dedication to God and to the task of transferring His message accurately and completely.

Why? So that, tribal men, women and children will be able to pick up a book, like the one  you’re holding, and read for themselves the incredible life changing truth that lies within.

Lisa Kappeler, and her coworkers face difficulties in translating the Scriptures in the Uriai language.   What does it take? Sometimes, as missionary translator, Lisa Kappeler learned, it just takes waiting. "Out of the 21 days I’ve been back in the village, I’ve had exactly 2 days with my language helper. We made some really great progress in those two days but then he was off to another village.  He’s been gone for more than two weeks now."

"I haven’t sat here twiddling my thumbs." Lisa said. "I’ve continued to prepare my preliminary drafts. Two weeks of that with no end in sight gets a little weary. "

Lisa relates the lessons she’s learned in the waiting. "It’s  God’s work – His church – His timing – His plan – His battle."
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:13.

Isn’t it amazing that the truths Lisa found that keep her dedicated to the task at hand are the same truths you hold in your hand? They are the same truths NTM missionaries are tirelessly putting into the hands of tribal people all over the world.

Thank you. Your partnership means that this great task is being completed, in your generation, in your day. Together, we can give the gospel message to all peoples one village at a time. One Bible at a time.
