Tired after 2 days of flying, Macon writes from Palawan, Philippines. He and photographer, Dale Stroud are there to take pictures for news stories and assess future video projects. Keep checking for more updates:
What an incredible place Palawan island is. We flew for an hour to the tribe and it was beach on one side and mountains on the other. The most beautiful blue water you ever saw.
The tribe we are visiting live in palm houses right along the coast. And the airstrip is just behind the first row of palm trees. I can not tell you how beautiful it is.. And the landing was spectacular….coming in over the ocean then turning and dipping behind a mountain, then turning a heavy right turn and the runway is right in front of you. Incredible veiws.
When we were flying down, Ben the pilot, flew over the island where Gracia and Martin Burnam were staying when they were taken. I shot a photo with my iPhone… Just a little spot on the ocean.
We are staying with Danny and Phillipa Brooks . They have been in the tribe three years. Phillipa is from Northern Ireland and perhaps, is the funniest lady on the island. The other missionary family, Ray and Chris Pollock, are from New Zealand and have a 15 year old daughter that does high school by internet in a tribe. Both are very nice families. Both totally dedicated to reaching the tribal people who live here with the gospel.
Everything is off to a good start. Pray our time here is effective. No doubt we will get great pictures.
