You know as well as I that it does not take long for well laid plans to fall apart.
I remember my plans for ministry in Colombia South America. I wanted to join missionary co-workers in remote areas and begin learning a tribal language, sharing the Gospel, translating Scripture and seeing a tribal church planted. They were good plans.
But then things got messy.
Colombian rebels and drug cartels invaded these remote areas. Missionaries were kidnapped. Some lost their lives. Many had to hurriedly pack a few belongings and escape from their homes before armed rebels arrived in the village.
Innocent tribal people also got caught in the crossfire. Their sons and daughters were taken by force to fight with the rebels or work for the drug lords. Villagers had to flee to protect themselves. Fledgling churches had to move and regroup.
But God was there all along. What looked like the end of the road was really just the next step in making new plans and finding new ways to partner with the tribal church and indigenous missionaries. Perhaps these changes mean that more people are hearing the Gospel in Colombia. Even now, young churches are maturing and sending out missionaries to other tribal locations.
God has bigger plans than we can sometimes see. God works in the lives of people even when things have gotten muddy beyond belief. Good things. Great things. Eternal things.
Want to get involved? It might get messy. But it will also be one of the most exciting things you ever do. Join us in seeing people who live in isolated areas around the world become brothers and sisters in Christ.
