Yesterday a message was passed on (via SSB radio) from our coworkers who had been contacted by one of our Moi friends, Kendaya, that many of the Moi are severely sick. We heard that many others from a nearby language group are also sick and many have died.
We immediately passed on word to our MAF friends who wanted to make it a priority to get someone in to help. We got in contact with our coworker, Andy, whose family is located in a nearby town to the Moi, and he was able to immediately get the help of a doctor, two nurses, and two other friends to join him on the flight this morning. They received a donation of $500 worth of medical supplies and took those in as well.
Our pilot friend, Nathan, just returned from our village and texted us that three of the Moi have already died and many others are very sick. At this point nobody knows what the illness is, but people are severely sick with high fevers for only two days before dying on the third. We are anxious to hear who of our Moi friends have passed away and are praying hard for everybody else. Please be praying with us.
Andy and the team will stay in for two days and come out in Friday. Please pray that they would remain healthy and be able to help many of the Moi, and that there could even be some clarity on what this might be as many other Moi and surrounding people groups are now at risk.
Finally, pray for the Moi church that they might keep looking to The Great Physician and keep pointing others to Him.
