Love this Couple: Wayne and Patsy Gibson
I had such a wonderful time in Peru with tribal missionaries, Wayne and Patsy. missionaries among the Piapoco Tribal People in Colombia SA Just to watch them interact and encourage other young tribal missionary families with what God has taught them was an incredible experience.
They humbly shared the ups and downs of long term missionary life, not from the perspective that they are perfect, but perfectly dependent on the God they love and the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
Their kind and generous spirits reflected God’s glory not their own self-worth. Sure their lives have been filled with ups and downs, hard times, sad times, broken times, but laced with God’s blessing, joy, peace and forgiveness. They are a forgiving couple. There is no pretense of bitterness, anger, hate, revenge or envy; but the mercy that God shows them, they lovingly pass on to anyone and everyone.
My kind of people!
I’ve had the privilege to see them in all walks of life, warts and all, hardships and strain, fear and loss, joy and praise, only to witness the maturity in Christ that they have allowed the Spirit of God to produce in them. That same ministry of God is being reflected in the lives of many, for which they give God the Praise, as do I. They are a moving example of how God takes imperfection and lovingly perfects.
A perfect example of what Paul says in Hebrews 12:1 ” laying aside every hindrance and sin which so easily entangles us, let us run with endurance the race that is set before us…..”
Truly a testimony to me, and may it be to you as well; that there is always grace to help you join the race or get back into this race we call the Christian life/walk. It’s not too late or too soon to lay aside every hindrance and sin that so easily entangles and distracts from living with eternity as our perspective. It’s not the life of those who minister well, that we should put on a pedestal (thinking we can not achieve so why try) but it is the example of a life fully dependent on God’s grace and mercy, and allowing Him to have first place in our affections.
