March 11, 2020 “I can’t tell you what to major in. I can’t tell you what job you are supposed to have. I can’t tell you who you are supposed to marry. But I can tell you God’s will for your life.” Anyone who went to Northwestern while Dean Paulson was the chaplain will surely remember him saying that. In fact, I hear his voice in my head whenever I read a verse that says, “For this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” That’s what Dean would always be referring to when he said he could tell us God’s will for our lives. There are actually a lot of verses in the Bible that say “this is God’s will for you.” Among them are, “Give thanks in all circumstances” (1 Thess.5:18), “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified” (1 Thess.4:3), “doing good” (1 Peter 2:15), “Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms” (Eph.5:18-19), “To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8). Some of God’s will is unknown to us- we are not always sure what big decision we should make, but these are things that we can know with confidence that God wants us to be doing. We don’t know all that God has for us in the future, but we know what God has for us now. We are trying to teach our students well and love them with God’s love. We are trying to be an encouragement to other missionaries, and are going to be leading a small group soon. We are praying about how to be a witness to the PNG citizens that live right here close to us. We are planning to continue to be involved in the school here next year, because there is a dire need for teachers, and we are teachers! Please pray that God would bring other teachers for next year as well. The school here serves not only the children of NTM missionaries, but also the children of many other missions here in PNG, as well as PNG citizens. Because of the shortage of teachers, they may not be able to offer classes to everyone next year. This will affect the ministries of many who are working to reach the people of PNG. We also want the school to be able to serve as many PNG citizens as possible, because if we want them to be able to take over the work of teaching and translating someday, they need a quality education. We are not only supporting the work of tribal missionaries now; we are equipping the next generation to take it over. Here is a link explaining the need for teachers, as well as a short video. They need teachers to apply by the end of this month if they are interested! Why teach in PNG? Oh, and we never told you about the other new thing Matt is doing. He is taking over the role of housing director for our campus. This means he helps to figure out where missionaries can live, make sure they have what they need, and coordinates housing for missionaries coming out from the bush or other missions. So, lots of emails and spreadsheets! Just another administrative role that needs to be done to support this work! Till all know, Matt, Karissa, Ty, and Wyck Praise God: – This school year has gone well. Just one more term to go! – God has done a lot of healing work in our hearts – God is growing our contentment in serving wherever He has us – He is in control! Please Pray: – for more teachers to come to serve at the school – for God’s guidance for our future – that we can build good relationships here – that we can parent our children well GIVE ONLINE |
