When asked what it’s like to have five kids, comedian Jim Gaffigan says, “Imagine you’re drowning. And someone hands you a baby.” This month has felt a little bit like that. |
“We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair.” -2 Cor.4:8 |
There’s been a lot going on this month- some good, some bad, but all of it requiring energy and wisdom. So, as this verse says, we have been feeling pressed and perplexed, but not crushed or driven to despair. As the previous verse says, it reminds us that our power is from God, not from ourselves. The month has been full of difficult situations. All this was just added to what we were already doing with work and school. Then, this past week started some workshops with an organization called Growability, who are here to help our organization improve and grow in team and people skills, as well as in goal setting and planning. So far it has been really good, and we are praying that God will use it to help our organization to improve. After that finishes this week, field leadership meetings will begin. During these meetings, Matt and other leaders will meet to discuss and make plans for things related to both the support and church planting side of ministry. Please pray for us for wisdom, humility, energy, and encouragement. Pray for unity and wisdom among our team. Pray for God to be at work in people’s lives, using all things for good. Till all know, Matt, Karissa, Ty, and Wyck Special Prayer Request: One of the key components for working in remote areas in Papua New Guinea is to have fuel. Jet fuel is used by our helicopters and Kodiak planes to deliver supplies, provide medical evacuations, and get missionaries in and out of isolated villages. Diesel fuel is used by generators to supply power and for vehicles that travel on rough roads into more accessible locations. Unfortunately, the only jet fuel provider for the country and one of the main suppliers of diesel and petrol has stated that they are unable to supply any fuel until further notice. With a limited amount of reserve, contingency plans must be implemented, and decisions must be made to wisely provide for our centers and teams in remote locations. Prayer is appreciated for a quick resolution to the country’s fuel situation, for the people of PNG affected by it, and for the missionaries of NTM PNG needing to adjust. |
Please Pray: -For unity -For wisdom and grace -That we can love others well and point them to Jesus -For health for our family as we keep fighting sicknessesPraise God: -We can see Him working in all these situations -Growability has been helpful so far -We are so thankful to be a part of this team -Karissa got to speak to our youth kids about healthy friendships Ty turned 11 this month! We are thankful for how he loves Jesus and loves others well. As part of reading festival at the kids’ school, Matt got to read to Wyck’s class. What are we supporting? This month’s tribal focus: Pray for the new team moving into the Uruwa people group. For a long time, the Dinangat people have felt like they were the only believers in existence, as there are no other believers nearby. However, three families are now in the process of moving in to the Uruwa people group. Their desire is both that the Uruwa people will hear the gospel, and that the Dinangat believers will one day have others to fellowship with. Pray for the team as these beginning stages can be difficult. Pray for God’s blessing on the housebuilding process. Pray that God will already be preparing the hearts of the Uruwa people to hear His Word. |
