“But godliness with contentment is great gain.” -1 Tim. 6:6 |

“I wish there was a way to know you’re in the good old days before you’ve actually left them.” – Andy Bernard, The Office |
“These are the good old days.” It’s a sign I have hanging over my mantle. I often need the reminder to be thankful and enjoy the present moment. In this season of Thanksgiving, I have been reflecting on contentment, and I’m sorry to share with you that it’s something I often struggle with. I often wonder when I make a choice, what would have happened if I had made the other one. This applies to decisions both big and small. If I go out, I wish I’d stayed home, and if I stay home, I wish I’d gone out. If I join one group at a gathering, I wonder what the other group is doing. Since returning to the U.S. on home assignment, I feel like the door of consumerism opened up and hit me in the face. There are so many fun things I could do, so much great food I could eat, or so much cool stuff I could buy, if only I had the money for them. Added to that is the repeating refrain in my head of, “This is your only chance! In a year you’ll be leaving!” And yet, I know that those things aren’t what will make me happy. When it comes to my choices, I need to rest in God’s sovereignty. When it comes to my desires, I need to rest in God’s sufficiency. He is in control, and He is enough. Godliness with contentment is great gain. Till all know, Matt, Karissa, Ty, and Wyck |

Ethnos360 missionaries have been working with these people since 2000, and though there have been many interruptions and trials due to violence and other issues, in 2005 the gospel was presented, and over the years there have developed not only one church but several churches in areas where the believers have done outreaches. Pray for the gospel to continue to spread among this large people group.
