“For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.” – 2 Cor. 4:5 “Everyone wants to change the world, but no one wants to change the toilet paper roll.” It’s a sign I saw in someone’s bathroom, and I thought, it’s as true as it is funny. But why is it true? Which is easier? Obviously changing the toilet paper roll. So why are we drawn to the other? They are both good things to do, but one gives recognition, respect, and a feeling of significance, and one does not. And yet- how can the world be changed if people aren’t willing to sacrificially serve others? Many of us are willing to do great things for God, but are we willing to do small things for Him? And are they truly for God, or are they for others, or for ourselves? In the beginning of Matthew 6, Jesus emphasizes: make sure your giving, prayers, and fasting, are all in secret, for God alone. There’s a Casting Crowns song called “Only Jesus,” that says, “I don’t want to leave a legacy. I don’t care if they remember me, only Jesus.” I was very convicted by this idea of, do I want to leave a legacy FOR God, or OF God? Do I want people to remember all the great things I did for Jesus, or do I want them to remember Jesus?Am I willing to obey God in all the daily, unnoticed, unimportant-feeling, small things that He calls me to? Am I willing to change the toilet paper roll? Till all know, Matt, Karissa, Ty, and Wyck |
Praise God: – We had nice time with loved ones over Christmas and New Year’s – Wyck is done with speech and voice therapy – Karissa’s shoulder is healing well – We found out that Ty’s asthma is not triggered by exercise – We are enjoying being more plugged in to our church lately ![]() A painting I made of that song ![]() 2024 was a great year! Please Pray:- for Matt as his internship and classes continue to be stressful – for Ty as he goes on his first ever youth group trip – for helpful results from Ty’s allergist appointment – for our neighbors who we are trying to be a witness to – that we can disciple Ty and Wyck well |
What are we supporting? This month’s tribal focus:![]() Jason Cizdziel, a missionary among the “W” people group, wrote some exciting news! “A church has been born in “W”. After years of preparation, language study, culture study, and enduring trials of various kinds, I can with now with confidence announce that there is new life in “W”. People are understanding and believing Yawe’s stories. They understand who Jesus is, what He did for us, and why it was necessary. Celebrate with us. Believers, you have new brothers and sisters in “W”. Many of them.” |
