The God Who Sees

October 27, 2025 by Matt and Karissa Long

Supporting Tribal Church Planting in Papua New Guinea
“Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the LORD, who had spoken to her. She said, ‘You are the God who sees me.'” – Gen. 16:13a

“Dad, Nathan had his eyes open while we were praying!”

I remember telling on my brother once saying that, to which of course my dad responded, “How do you know?”

There are a lot of times when I’m sure that kids wish that their sibling, parent, or teacher didn’t see them. For some people, thinking about God seeing them is a scary thought. It is true, no sin can be hidden from God, and He will deal with them all.

However, the name describing God in this passage, El-Roi, has always been my favorite. While being seen can feel scary, everyone’s deepest longing is to be fully seen and fully loved. That is how God responds to us. He sees us completely, yet still loves us totally.

It is so encouraging to me that God sees everything. He sees every little unnoticed sacrifice that I make. He sees every injustice done against me. He sees every tear and ache of my heart. He sees every longing and desire. He sees every hope, every fear, and every need.

God sees me, and God sees you. He sees you fully, loves you completely, and, if you have put your trust in Christ, He is working all things for your good. He sees it all, and He will deal with it all. He will make all things right someday.

In about two months, we will head back to PNG. We are going so that those who have never heard of the God Who Sees Them will see Him. We are going so that those missionaries who know Him will be encouraged and reminded that He sees them.

Till all know,
Matt, Karissa, Ty, and Wyck

Our church provided for us to have a weekend away together!

Praise God:
– Karissa’s back is feeling better
– We were able to visit one of our supporting churches in Missouri
– We have started up homeschooling again and it’s going well
– Karissa had to get a crown, but it resolved her tooth pain

We went back to visit our alma mater, UNW Saint Paul

We are enjoying our last couple months of doing Ninja

Please Pray:
– that our visas get back to us quickly
– that Wyck’s jaw will make enough progress with his orthodontics before we leave
– for a loved one that is on our hearts, that God would be drawing them to Himself
– for some family members who have significant health struggles
What are we supporting?  This month’s tribal focus:
Pray for the completion of the Kaul New Testament. Wayne and Diane Baker write,
“We are thrilled to share that the Kaul New Testament is nearing completion! After years of hard work and prayer, the final stages are underway. Currently, it is being typeset. After we read through the typeset copy and make final changes, it will be printed and shipped to PNG…
Please pray for the Kaul Church for:
Spiritual growth, faithfulness and unity
Wisdom for the church as we appoint 2 elders next week
Continued discipleship and outreach
Impact from Jefri’s teaching in the school”
