Since Jessica and I continue with our same old Swahili study (PTL for encouraging progress) we thought we would use this update to focus on the school the kids are going to. HOPAC, or Haven of Peace Academy, has been a huge blessing to our family, allowing Jessica and I to focus full time on our other work. Janelle and Austin scored very well on their ACT and pre-ACT. This is one encouraging indicator that they are receiving an excellent education.
While there is lots of study time, the kids have also enjoyed extracurricular activities like drama (Janelle and Austin just performed in Shakespeare’s Hamlet) swimming, community service, campus service and other opportunities. Tanzania also provides to world-class opportunities.
Austin has been training for several months and is ready to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak at 19,341 feet. Thank you for those who helped sponsor him. Janelle is looking forward to her senior trip to Zanzibar just off the Tanzanian coast. Please continue to pray for her as she is in the middle of university applications.
HOPAC has a strong Christian foundation and works to meet the needs of the missionary community. To provide excellent services while keeping the costs reasonable many Tanzanians are also admitted. This provides an excellent evangelistic opportunity as well. But these blessings don’t just appear out of thin air.
