It has been our joy recently to spend time with relatively new Christians of the body of Christ where we gather and fellowship. Thinking back over our conversations together, these verses held new meaning to us this week:
O, give thanks unto the LORD, for He is good; for His mercy endureth forever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy.” Ps. 107:1,2.
One of these brothers in Christ is a younger man who has recently gone through a very difficult separation and then divorce. Though he took very seriously his responsibility to win back the love of his young wife, it was to no avail. The hurt is made even deeper perhaps by the fact that she is also a Christian but has chosen her personal happiness and desires over obedience to the Lord. Our hearts ached with him, yet also rejoiced as he shared the spiritual journey that accompanied this painful time. He has not given up on His Lord and continues to desire to serve Him and be faithful to Him.
Our other interesting conversation was with a younger couple who have recently come to Christ just a few months before the birth of their first son. What a joy to hear them relate what God is doing in their lives, what He is showing them, how He is giving them opportunity for witness in their families and in life in general. Their eyes sparkled and smiles were abundant as they shared their new found “joy in Jesus.” And we praise God with them.
Even though we are not out “on the road” these days in our member care ministry, God is giving us wonderful opportunities right here in our home fellowship to be listening ears, open hearts, and sometimes a shoulder to learn on.
Thanks for journeying with us.
