We were able to spend the last two weeks being on the sending end of support ministries instead of the receiving end! There are huge needs for support missionaries to keep those of us who are church planters in the tribe. God can use any of you to meet the needs of the tribal churches around the world!
We have done more shopping in the past two weeks than we have ever done in our lives. We bought supplies for a family who only gets supplies once every three months when the helicopter comes to the Islands Region of Papua New Guinea. The three shuttles carried over 2500 lbs of supplies into a remote village. It was quite the task: buying, trying to figure out subs for things that were not available, along with packing, weighing and preparing the supplies for each shuttle. There was even enough room on the last shuttle to allow Christina to fly in for the night to visit her friends! One of the perks of being an MK (missionary kid).
We also helped organize a boat to take the Luse family out to a remote village to encourage a bush family. They had an over 2 hour boat ride and then a 6 hour hike to get into the village along with their four girls, ages 1 to 13. They had a great trip and were a blessing to the Mitchell family.
We just made it back home tonight to resume our church planting and translation ministry among the Tigak people. It is good to be home!
