We hope you have many things to be thankful for! We sure do! We had a great Thanksgiving celebrating with our friends and co-workers. It is fun to try and have a traditional meal with all the subs needed to make it work in a third world country. We actually saw a turkey for sale but considering a 10 lb turkey was over $70 – we stuck to roasted chickens that were about $7 each. Still yummy! We brought back pecans from Texas so we could make a pecan pie.
Ned’s translation check went great! Ned now has all of John, Hebrews and II Timothy checked and close to ready to print for the Tigak. The exciting thing is that this brings Ned’s total of checked New Testament portions to 68%!!
Ned checked almost 1700 verses of the Kaul New Testament also. It has been a very productive two weeks. Ned and Garrett and one of our translation helpers Sendi got quite sick during the check and are still trying to recover from their coughs. Paska was so excited to do the check of Hebrews. He was extremely nervous beforehand since he had heard it was a hard book to understand but as they went through the check and he was clearly hearing and understanding the concepts presented in the book of Hebrews he got more and more thrilled! When the check was done he said “I finally understand the book of Hebrews!” We are looking forward to having the new portions printed in the next few months so the Tigak can have more of God’s Word in their hands.
Garrett and Linn are now back home and Ned is gone for another two weeks to teach a translation workshop for new translators on the mainland of PNG. Our co-worker, Aimee, and two of the Tigak ladies are flying to the conference today to be students. Please be praying for their time in class and Ned’s time teaching.
Thank you for your faithfulness in praying and giving so we can continue on with the work God gives us to do each day!
