Well, as you might have guessed, we’re still wading through plenty of homework, moving into the Life of Christ (finally, the New Testament!), finishing up some of the exilic and post-exilic prophets (finally, they are smaller than Jeremiah!), and diving into Anthropology/Hamartiology (which is fancy theological terms for the study of man and sin).
If I could describe this semester’s homework in one word, it’d be reading, and more reading, and more, which accounts for the milkshakes in the title. I have had more milkshakes in the past four weeks than I care to think about. And Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel are about as thick to read as our whole milk with Breyer’s ice cream (Payton’s favorite) concoctions. I’m thinking of switching to a lighter version of frozen bananas, peanut butter, milk and maybe some chocolate syrup…now that I read what I wrote, I’m not sure if it’s any lighter. Needless to say, the prophets are intense and my mind is buckling under their enormity, but I’m praying for more time to digest them this summer in the shadow of Pikes Peak. I am super excited to return to the land of thin air, yummy drinking water, and mountains! Plus, the time with our friends and church family will be refreshing indeed!
Although, I do have to say that I wouldn’t trade the time here in Michigan for anything. I’ve loved being back at Warrendale Community Church, seeing family and making new friends. Plus, Michigan just gave us a taste of warm weather and it smelled a tinsy bit like spring outside yesterday and today. I know, I know, winter still has a month or two to unleash its fury (and I still looooove snow), but the smell gave me hope for spring!
Right now at school, God has been continuing to work in my own heart, beyond the academics, really tearing into the deeper parts of me. It’s been painful to be honest. It takes a lot to bring me to my knees in utter failure, but He’s been doing it. I rely far too much on my own strength and am glad to know that I’m headed toward learning to rest in His strength. Pray for Payton and I as God is teaching us both lessons–plus, we have to do a budget this week for our finance class and supposedly it will cause fighting! 🙂 So, we could use a little intercession!
Several hours of heavy reading and homework assignments have dulled my brain, so here are a few pictures for your enjoyment.
