We wrapped things up in Colorado Springs,
…enjoying time with friends (Bird Dog, Putt-Putt, and Coldstone!)
…picked all the produce we could from the garden (tomatoes, snap peas, lettuce, zucchini)
…had a picnic by the creek
…had our last yerba mate drinks in Manitou (so many good memories)
…and finished up Payton’s softball season
We sent ourselves off to Roach with a bag full of burritos from Taco Express…
and listened to Les Miserables to get through Kansas. It was the most uneventful trip yet, which was fine for us.
Upon arrival, some nice folks, the Klines, showed us to our apartment, which had some food in the fridge and a fresh loaf of bread on the counter. The apartment turned out to be bigger than our last one in Jackson, complete with it’s own toilet and sink! We love it. Yesterday we bought groceries from a Mennonite store, which had all of the grains that I needed, which was a blessing. And then found the rest at Wally World. Today was inspect, title, and register the vehicle, license ourselves, and wrap up a new insurance policy. We also got library cards. Can I just give a shot our to the world’s best DMV here in Camdenton?! We didn’t even have to wait in line and everyone was friendly. That has never happened before–getting my drivers license was actually pleasant! Makes you wish you were in MO, right?
We also have an air conditioner, which is a god-send because our fans haven’t arrived yet. But our internet is a little slow, so pictures might be a little harder to upload. Our apartment isn’t setup because our stuff is still arriving, but here are a few pictures:
And the above picture doesn’t do justice, but that’s looking toward our apartment from way across the lake. It was cloudy and blah, but the lake and the land around it is beautiful! We can see the lake from our bedroom window.
And there’s a creek coming from a natural spring! I like them better than lakes for some reason.
Ah yes, and the giant spider web!
