A day or so ago I lost my wallet. It happened at a restaurant connected to a hotel in town. I had paid for dinner and then my family and I, along with the guests we were with, left for home. About halfway home I checked my pocket and realized I didn’t have my wallet with me. I went back to the restaurant to look for it. No one had seen it. I left my name and number with the security guards, the waiters, the managers, filled out a police report, and made it home by about 10pm.
I couldn’t help thinking that I didn’t need this hassle. The money wasn’t a big deal. I didn’t have that much in my wallet anyway. The big deal was the driver’s license, the credit card and the debit card. I had to have my driver’s license and credit card to rent a car in South Africa and the debit card to have access to money. Then the Lord reminded me that He knows better than I do about what I need. If I am facing a hassle it because it is what is best for me. It was are relief to be able to trust Him to know what is best.
The next morning at 5am I got a call from the security guards at the restaurant saying they had found my wallet. I went in and sure enough there was my wallet, my license, and my cards, although the money was gone. We praise the Lord for getting these things back. They will greatly facilitate the trip to South Africa that we will be making tomorrow (the 29th). We thank Him for taking care of us and for the opportunities to meet and interact with more people than we would otherwise have done.
