PROBLEMS WITH THE WELL

November 24, 2010 by Phil and Elin Henderson

Our well is giving us problems. When we first dug it, it was about 20m deep (65ft). The next year we extended it to a depth of about 25m (82ft). For the past few years things have been good but this year we ran out of water. My submersible pump is only about 19m (62ft) deep. The water level is now below the level of the pump. When I checked the level of the water below the pump it was only a foot or two. Apparently the dirt walls have been caving in over the last few years. I am now trying to get a hold of a local professional well-digger (the one who dug it in the first place) to come and re-dig the well. Then I will need to put a cement casing in the well to prevent further caving in the future. Please pray that the well-digger will be available and we will be able to get the well fixed soon and our running water working again. In the meantime we have to get our water in buckets from the village well. It isn’t working well either and there are long lines each day to get water.
