Week 8 started off Monday with drizzly overcast skies and a very small group gathering to hear the remaining story of Joseph. Friends and coworkers of ours from town arrived that day for a 4 day visit. By Tuesday the rain was falling continuously and the lesson had to be canceled. Skies started to clear by Wednesday and so we went on with the lessons, starting into the story of Moses. Our guests enjoyed sitting in on the session as well as interacting with the people. By Thursday a good size group was gathering again to hear the Word β including about 100 kids when their school classes were canceled for the day. π
On Friday a group of those coming to hear the teaching got together to continue working on the rain shelter at the teaching site. Even though we had to go last minute to the provincial capital to deal with our documents, they worked hard on their own and slowly the shelter is taking shape.
The MP3s and Megavoice recorders continue to go out. We have had a steady stream of people coming by this weekend to pick theirs up. So much for quiet weekends, it will be a few months before we experience them again! π
Pray that those who are listening for the first time will begin to come to the teaching. Pray for those who use it as a catch-up and review tool, that the Lord will really make clear these truths to them. Continue to pray that many more will come to get machines and come to hear the Word being taught!
After a week like this last, we never know quite what to expect, but here is a little look at what we think might be happening this upcoming week! π
Monday is the continuation of the story of Moses including the pleas before Pharaoh to βLet my people goβ as well as the plagues of Egypt. Tuesday will be another critical lesson, that of the final plague and the Passover Lamb. There are a lot of core teaching points that will be drawn from this story in future lessons. Wednesday and Thursday the Exodus continues and they will start to get to know this group we call βThe Children of Israel.β Lord willing, as we teach, the Mwinika will begin to identify well with them! π
Please pray for good attendance and that the eyes of their understanding will be opened. Pray that they will retain these important stories and understand the underlying teaching points and their implications. Also, pray for good weather!
