Last week I (Elin) did a little class for the ladies, teaching them how to make flour out of their manioc/cassava roots and then a type of bread/pancake. Here is a picture of us, sitting in the smoke, learning together. I would like to start having a class a month for them, covering a variety of topics of interest to them like cooking, infant care, health, sickness, nutrition, etc. Eventually my prayer is that this can become an avenue for studying the Word of God with these ladies. A good number of them have been attending the teaching – some more faithfully than others. There were several though who haven’t come even once. I hope to find common ground in simple things and build up from there.
One lady after had never come to the teaching before but was visiting a friend of mine when I went to invite her to this teaching session. I told them to come early, hear the Word of God being taught, then stick around for the ladies’ class. This lady did just that. She then returned on Monday to the teaching and asked for a machine so that she could hear what she had missed. Since then, she hasn’t missed a session! Neat how the Lord works!
