LANGUAGE STUDY STILL IN A HOLDING PATTERN

July 24, 2011 by Phil and Elin Henderson

Thank you for those of you who prayed for my (Elin’s) language evaluation this past week. It went well although I was told I still have a little ways to go before I am officially “finished” with formal language study. I liken it to being in a holding pattern waiting to land in the city of your destination. It’s been a long flight, lots of turbulence and even some direction changes, but the air traffic control center has told me to hang on in the holding pattern for a little while longer. There are a few things that aren’t set up yet for me to make a safe landing on the runway of “Capable High” as we call it. This was a bit disappointing for me as I was really hoping to be finished but the Lord had prepared my heart for the reality of this and is teaching me to rest in Him. The level I am at now is sufficient for my current ministry needs. With my other responsibilities of homeschooling the kids and supporting my husband in his intense ministry schedule I am realizing more and more that God is asking me to lay aside the pursuit of fulfilling this personal goal!

Pray for me as I continue in a holding pattern. My pride longs to touch down on terra firma and finish this long flight! Pray that I will find peace resting in His perfect will . Pray also that He will continue to help improve my language ability in the limited time I have to study.
