LITERACY CLASS GRADUATION

January 22, 2012 by Phil and Elin Henderson

After 4 months of studying this class of 7 just finished up their literacy program. It was a lot of hard work and sacrifice for them but they stuck with it and finished strong. We had a small ceremony to celebrate their accomplishments.

Since it is the planting season we weren’t able to get together another class. There is a lot of interest but folks are needing to be out in their gardens full time these days. Since we were wondering if we would even be able to get it done before our home assignment we all decided it would be better to wait before starting the next class.

In the meantime I (Elin) am thankful for a little respite to be able to get around and spend more time with people. I would also like to work on making available more reading material and begin wrapping things up as we head towards our home assignment in June.
