We are in the final countdown as we pack up and get ready to head back to the US. Tomorrow afternoon our trip home begins.
It has been a very busy and eventful week starting with packing and organizing the house, then the endless task of saying goodbye, followed by a very hectic departure. Our partner, Nadia Hattingh, had not been feeling well for over a week having contracted malaria. She took a full malaria treatment but still was not improving. Her condition continued to worsen and last minute we realized that she would need to be taken out of the village to seek better medical help in the main city where our support center. Since their car is not working, I (Elin) flew out on MAF’s plane with her, Callie and her daughter Heidi on Friday, while the guys drove up together in our car. The remainder of the day was spent caring for her and trying to get her medical help.
Praise the Lord, a Dutch doctor was able to help out and we were able to find another malaria treatment that has significantly helped her although she is still very weak and tired. They will remain in town here for another week and allow her to gain some of her strength back then return to the village.
Pray for her full healing and for a good time of rest for them as family. Also, pray for them in the months ahead as they jump back into a very full ministry schedule.
Pray for us as we finish up our packing and last minute tasks. Pray for safety for us as we travel and for a smooth transition back to life in the US.
