Our partner, Francois, sent an early morning email yesterday informing us that this is all that is left of our truck. It had been in the shop for months in South Africa getting thousands of dollars worth of repairs.
During the final test drive before being handed back to us it suddenly burst into flames and was totally consumed. Praise the Lord the driver was not injured – after seeing the picture above it is hard to imagine! There isn’t a logical explanation at this point other than to say that God has a plan and is in control.
Phil is in West Africa until early next week. He travels into the bush shortly and will be out of reach for the better part of this week. This puts a lot of pressure on our partner Francois who was on his way to pick up the truck.
We are thankful for his help but ask you to pray for him and his family right now. He is helping us with the insurance compensation and handling this crisis for us. Pray for provision of a vehicle for him and his family. They were planning on returning to Mozambique shortly using our vehicle while theirs is being repaired in the shop.
Please pray also for the Lord’s guidance as we seek His will in purchasing another vehicle. We are so thankful to the mechanics who have labored and invested (far beyond the money we were able to invest) to help us with this truck as well as so many who have given funds both for the purchase of the vehicle and the ongoing repairs and maintenance.
This was truly God’s truck and we stand with Job in saying, “The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”
