Yesterday I (Phil) took a trip to a nearby town (4 hours each way) to drop off the translation consultants and other guests. It had been raining and the road was pretty sloppy. When we got to a nicer section we got out to stretch and took a picture. You can see how muddy the […]
Our translation check is complete. We had 4 days of checking and were able to complete 430 verses. Things went very well and the Lord used it to help us make sure that the translation communicates as clearly as possible. We thank Paul Cheshire, our translation consultant, for his help. He provided us with many […]
Sunday morning we held a meeting with village leaders about how to proceed with inviting the community to attend the teaching sessions. The village leaders decided that rather than us be responsible for the invites, each clan leader should invite his clan members, each government zone leader should invite the people in his zone, and […]
Wednesday the 16th is the date set by the leaders of the community to clean the site where we will be doing the teaching. Please pray for good participation and that the Lord will use this time to increase the desire of the people in the village to hear his word taught. We will begin […]
Tomorrow, Sunday morning, we have a meeting scheduled with the village leaders (government, religious, and family) to discuss the final details of how we will officially invite the community members to attend the teaching sessions. The teaching sessions are scheduled to start Monday the 21st. Please pray that the meeting will go well and the […]

This week our session never got going because our projector wouldn’t work. I (Phil) think the cooling fan isn’t working causing the unit to overheat and automatically shut itself off. Hundreds of people went […]
“Onthamwene namakara onvira mmakuthani” (The lame person is carried on the shoulders his friends.) I (Phil) heard this expression the first time when an uncle was giving advice to a young nephew who was not treating his friend well. The uncle was trying to communicate to the young man that he should treat his friend […]
Today our translation consultant arrived. He will spend a few days with us checking the translation work that Phil has been doing. They will check several hundred verses from Genesis, Exodus, and Jonah. Pray that the Lord will use this check to make His word as clear as possible in the Mwinika language.
