With the eyes of each child watching in surprise, I stabbed the stuffed lamb causing red soap (since the stuffed lamb did not have blood) to ooze out into a bowl. As I walked to the doorway and started putting the red soap on the sides and top of the door, I explained how God asked the Israelites to kill a lamb in the place of their firstborn children (Exodus 11-12). Most of the 3rd and 4th graders appeared to grasp the idea of the lamb dying in the place of someone else.
One of my favorite parts of the week is Wednesday nights. Each week, the 3rd and 4th graders and I play games, memorize Bible verses, and then listen to a Bible story about someone who trusted (or did not trust) God. While chaos reigns some nights, I enjoy the opportunity God has provided to teach these boys and girls more about Who God is and what He has done for us.
The rest of the week, I divide my time between attending classes, doing homework (right now, we are analyzing grammar patterns in languages), and beginning the process of sorting through belongings and cleaning my apartment in preparation for moving back to California at the end of May. Please continue to pray for me as I finish missions training in two months and continue to work in Awana.
