Good news! Last week, I finished my formal Linguistics training. That means that I am now “enroute” to Papua New Guinea. Of course, I’ve already spent months working on visa paperwork. However, I’m now spending most of my days wading through a long list of things to be done before leaving for Papua New Guinea.
Finishing up Linguistic training in Oklahoma resulted in some unique experiences. A bedroom full of scorpions that really enjoyed hanging out by my bed. My language helper’s yard that I imagine looked like Egypt during the plague of locusts or Little House on the Prairie when the grasshoppers ate their crops. The opportunity to use really neat linguistic software to organize language data.

My to-do list before leaving for Papua New Guinea in January includes a visit to see my sister and her family in Georgia. Since I’m not going to see my nephews for several years, I need to get in some “auntie” time before I leave. My visa is still in process, and I would appreciate your continued prayers for it to be approved. I’m glad to know that you are praying with me during this process!
