Brad, Shilo, Gabriel, and Samuel Cain arrived the middle of June and have had a whirlwind month of orientation and introduction to Paraguay, its culture, and people.
They were limited to a month, as Brad will start teaching at the NTM MK school in another part of the country, starting the middle of August, and they still need to set up their house.
During the month things started out by being met on arrival by the pastor of the Cain’s Host Church here, Carlos, and his wife, as well as by Gustavo, the husband in the Host Family.
As we are looking at working more closely with the local church and Christian community here, we are working with local churches to take on the ministry of being Host Churches for new missionaries.
The Host Church then picks a Host Family from within the church. This family is entrusted with more responsibility in helping the new family as they adjust to life in Paraguay.
Pastor Carlos and Esmeralda, Pastor Kike, and Gustavo and Cintia invested quite a bit of time over the month in getting together to share and talk about Paraguayan culture and history, trips to see local points of interest culturally and historically, etc. They were a huge blessing and help.
As a Host Family, Gustavo and Cintia were a fantastic, teaching the Cains how to prepare Paraguayan foods, visiting, answering questions, etc. Cintia got pretty sick with the flu for about a week, and others from the church willingly stepped in to help the Cains.
Thanks for praying for my preparations for this, and for praying for the Cains.
Pray for Brad, Shilo, and their kids as they get settled in near the MK school, prepare for their ministries, and continue to develop relationships and adjust to Paraguay.
