We’re fully into our spring weather here in the southern hemisphere. It isn’t too hot yet, but we know it won’t be long in coming.
Laurie continues to serve as the NTM Paraguay representative on the Asuncion Christian Academy School board. She’s keep busy with responsibilities as the board chairman and also picking up the slack in areas normally covered by a General Director. ACA is still without a General Director and it is an extremely important prayer need. We’re earnestly praying for a godly qualified individual to be able to minister as General Director by the spring semester or at the latest, in time for the fall semester next year. If you know anyone that might be interested in the position, have them contact Laurie at mydoglady2@gmail.com .
Be praying for Laurie. It is a heavy, but important weight she’s carrying right now. She is also continuing with other responsibilities with the mission guest house and getting menus and food lists prepped for our yearly field conference.
Laura is enjoying working at a veterinary clinic not far from our house. She really enjoys animals and takes care of the receipts and record keeping for the clinic, as well as help some with the animals as needed. It has been a good opportunity for her as she is learning what it means to have a job, handle her own money, buy clothes and other items, etc, and she loves it.
Ryan is finishing up some training and then returning to Wisconsin in a few weeks. Upon his return to Wisconsin he plans to get back into his studies at the University of Wisconsin after the first of the year.
Derek has settle in in Waukesha, WI, near where Ryan will head back to, and is driving school bus for a local bus company and is looking into starting classes soon at the local community college.
Me? As I’ve mentioned before, I’m keeping busy. :- ) We’ve got 17 fantastic new missionaries we’re working with to help them be more equipped and prepared for their future ministries in Paraguay and in tribal locations. Each individual has different strengths and challenges, different abilities and areas of need. I’ve got the privilege of coming along side as a Language Consultant and discipling them as we teach them how to learn Spanish and culture, and as we encourage and disciple in spiritual and other areas as well.
It has been a real challenge to keep up with emails and other correspondence. Beside normal stuff, two weekends ago I had the opportunity to teach at a youth retreat and then this last Saturday I attended a seminar with missionaries from various organizations and tribal leaders from Paraguay and Argentina to discuss ways to most effectively share the Gospel, see people discipled, and a strong church established in a local indigenous setting. It was interesting the differences of culture among our tribal friends who were present, but all coming back to the same central message of God’s word.
