In today’s economy and with just the general day to day "stuff" we deal with it is often to easy to feel like this turkey and say, "Thanksgiving? Gulp!"
This last week as I was headed out to my car to go to my outreach ministry, I was disappointed to find that my battery was dead. I thought to myself, "Thanksgiving?"
To make matters worse as I tried to pop the hood on our van thinking a quick little jump start & and I’ll be off and running, I was disappointed to find the hood on my van wouldn’t pop open as I had hoped. Again I thought to myself, "Thanksgiving?"
Needless to say, God provided. He always does. He maybe doesn’t provide the way we would hope or when we would hope but He does provide. After calming my nerves a bit I took the van up to our MTC shop and found a faithful partner in the gospel willing to come out and help get the hood on our van popped. A little grease is all it needed and now it is as good as new. He also loaned my a battery charger to get our Honda running again.
So what do we have to be thankful for. We thank the Lord…
…that we have faithful partners in the gospel, not just here at the MTC, but also all those that that have partnered with us in prayer, in finances, and in encouragement.
…that we have two vehicles. Most people in this world do not have even one. I could still be riding a bike and even that is a luxury in many countries.
…knowing that He is faithful even when we are not.
"What a wretched man am I! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God – through Jesus Christ our Lord!"
Romans 7:24-25
The next day as we were leaving class the muffler fell off and nearly took the bumper with it (smile). Life still happens, but praise the Lord that He is Lord through it all.
