As promised in my last update, here is a more general field update about our need for support workers. The summary is that PNG needs support missionaries in order for church planting to happen, and there are lots of openings!
New Tribes Mission in Papua New Guinea (NTM PNG) has church planting missionaries serving throughout the country, from the island of New Hanover in the northeast to locations close to the Indonesian border in the west. In order to serve all of our missionaries, we divide our forty-one active church planting locations into three service areas: Western, Central and Eastern. Each of those areas include at least one support center that exists to support the missionaries in that area and keep them functioning in their church planting locations.
In addition, the headquarters of NTM PNG exists to provide aviation support, business management, dental and medical care, home school resources, IT help, technical services support, and field security. Our headquarters also operates a K through 12 school for missionary and local community kids.
This year, we have reached the lowest number of support missionaries serving with NTM PNG since 2013. We currently have forty-five fewer people covering all of our support centers and roles than we had five years ago. This summer, in July of 2026, there are scheduled to be fewer people serving at our headquarters than there were in 2020 when over seventy of our missionaries left the country at one time due to Covid. In order to meet the needs of our church planting teams and the unreached people of Papua New Guinea who still so desperately need the gospel, we need your help to fill some of these gaps.
Many of the roles require professional skills that you, or people you know, may be currently using in your home country. Please consider spending 1-4 years through Ethnos360’s Associate program (change out the sending org. for your own, if need be) using those skills to benefit the church planting efforts in Papua New Guinea.
In education, we are in need of a high school math, science and foreign language teacher, as well as an elementary school teacher, an administrator and an educational special services coordinator. See more about the needs in education here: https://www.ntmpng.org/nca/. We are also in need of a Doctor, a Dentist, Dental Hygienists, and a Physical Therapist. See more about the needs in medical care here: https://www.ntmpng.org/medical/. We also need a Business Manager, an Accountant, a Personnel Administrator, and IT Personnel. We need eight people with Technical Services skills who are willing to train our national co-workers in construction, carpentry, and mechanics.
Please consider how you might be able to use your experience and gifting to keep tribal church planters serving well in their remote locations. See job descriptions at https://ethnos360.org/go/skilled-associate-program. Email our Personnel Director at personnel-director@ntmpng.org with any questions. Please pray that our team would have wisdom in utilizing and maximizing the people we currently have available to us.
