Have you ever made plans and then changed them and changed them again? Been there. Done that. More times than I’d like to admit. And it reminds me of Proverbs 16:9, where it reads: A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. I love how God is the Director of my steps!
So how has God been directing my steps, or in this case, the timing of my annual ministry trip up north? God’s been tweaking it.
It started out on the calendar for July. Then my son, Tyler, made plans to move to Florida sometime between May and August of this year. A tad vague, wouldn’t you agree?
After praying about it, I put my plans on hold and prioritized being around for whenever Tyler would eventually arrive. That ended up being the last part of May, and it’s been a special time of reconnecting with him. As the picture shows, he makes mundane trips to Walmart interesting, to say the least.
After Tyler settled into his new job, I dusted off the itinerary and wrote my trip in for the month of August. And then God tweaked my plans again!
Our Advancement team was tasked with planning and making happen various stations, events and venues for Global Focus Week at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. I knew it wasn’t a small task and that we’d do best to have “all hands on deck.” And so, after praying about it, I once again erased the trip from the calendar. And I’m glad I did. We still have a lot of preparations to make for that week-long event. The picture below is a mock-up of some ideas we’re working on. Prayers are appreciated!
The ministry trip is back on the calendar again, this time for September, with plans to end the trip by participating in Global Focus Week at Liberty. And after that, I’ll be driving the rest of the way home. At least that’s the plan!
Thank you for partnering with me in the changing plans that God brings into my life. The end goal, no matter what steps the Lord has me taking, is to see unreached peoples around the world come to know Him. Thank you for being part of that!
Thanx for being flexible!
