Hi friends,
We wanted to update on our current plans. We have been in PNG now for 6 years in total; more than two of those years has been spent with the Mengen people and we are amazed at how the Lord is working. Simon has now finished language and is involved in teaching, leadership training and is working on getting checked out as a bible translator; Annika is also close to finishing language and is involved in discipleship and lesson revisions. Our last furlough was 3 years ago and as yet we have never presented the Mengen work in person to you or your churches and our supporters and we have a great desire to do that; this will enable you to share in what the Lord is doing and understand that you are a vital part of the church planting team.
We are also going to be working hard on partnership development to enable us to be more effective in our work here on the ground. We would love to come and visit with you or your church, share on the current needs of world missions and our work amongst the Mengen people and the road ahead. For those reasons we will be returning on furlough in early November of this year. First of all we will be going to the USA to visit family and take meetings. We will then be leaving the USA early in the new year to go to the UK to visit family and for deputation – we hope to be based out of Edinburgh for the most part and also pay a visit to the Faroe Islands for meetings. We have written initial dates below and we will be available to take meetings at those times. We will update you with more available dates as we go. Please do not hesitate to get in contact with us as soon as possible so we can start to plan meetings. We are happy to take Sunday meetings, mid-week meetings, attend missions conferences and take youth meetings.
Initial dates we know of:
USA – 11th Nov 2012 – 21st Dec 2012
UK Dates – 1st Feb 2013 – July 2013
Please be praying:
– For the Lord to direct us and use us to challenge the Church for world missions.
– Please pray the Lord would develop a great team to partner with us in the work of church planting amongst the Mengen people.
– Pray the Lord would provide for our travel and flight expenses.
– Pray for the provision of a car to enable us to get around to churches both in the USA and the UK.
– Pray the Lord would provide accommodation for us on furlough also.
– Pray for our team – The Mengen Church – The Laureti family and Keri and Rebecca. Pray the Lord would enable them and bless them over our furlough time.
In His grace,
Simon, Annika, Nya and Noah.
