We (Stefan and Sharon) each grew up in multi-cultural families with parents in ministry overseas. Through that background we saw the unfolding of God’s grace in our own lives and the need for an understanding of the gospel among all nations. As we grew and developed in our professions (Stefan as a teacher and Sharon as a clinical social worker), we continued to have a firm conviction of the power of the gospel to change lives. After serving in our local communities and local church for several years, we were challenged to be a part of taking the gospel to areas with less access to God’s truth, and we moved overseas.
In 2006 we moved to Mozambique where we worked both in urban and rural settings with the local church, teaching and equipping believers to spread the gospel. For the last several years (through 2020), our efforts were focused not only on Bible literacy and pastor training, but also in equipping believers to be sustainable in ministry.
In 2021 we plan to relocate to South Africa where we will continue to challenge the Church and to equip believers in cross-cultural ministry. When we look at the global trends in ministry as well as projected world population growth, we see South Africa as being a strategic location in which to minister. We are excited to position ourselves to serve the African Church: to challenge young leaders as they make vocational decisions, to continue to make disciples through foundational Bible teaching and to equip believers as they reach the world with the good news of the gospel.
We have the privilege of raising four children and bringing them along with us on this journey: Cohen (15), Christian (13), Wesley Grace (11) and Alexandra (9). They have both witnessed and experienced first-hand some of the realities of the brokenness of our world and the challenges of life in developing countries as well as the mercy and faithfulness of the God we proclaim. We see God raising up a new generation of followers, and we count it an honor to live out the gospel in our own lives with them in Africa.
