Headed for Paraguay!

October 15, 2014 by Steve and Eida Irwin

Irw Upd Paraguay

For the last couple of months, we’ve been preparing for the Foundational Bible Teaching Workshop in Paraguay (colored orange above). I’ve been translating written material and will be interpreting for the Spanish-speaking participants from different Latin American countries.

The purpose of this workshop is to help church-planters produce Bible-teaching curriculum in the tribal language of the people group they serve — lessons which specifically speak to the key points that God would have us address in their particular worldview.

My flight is scheduled for Monday. It’s nearly a 24-hour trip to this country in the southern hemisphere, where the seasons are the opposite of ours, so it will be spring when I arrive on Tuesday. Before the 8-day workshop starts on Thursday, I’ll participate in some planning meetings . All told, I should be away from home for 2 weeks. Please pray for safe travels (especially virus-free planes!).

The more urgent prayer request is that my internal translator and my tongue will work quickly and efficiently together as I do simultaneous interpreting for the speakers and some of the breakout sessions in order to make this equipping event truly profitable for our Latin American ministry partners.

New grandbaby on the way!

Art and Lenn have announced that they are expecting their first child in March of next year, and the nursery is being decorated in pink!

We would be grateful for your prayers for little Baby Irwin and for Lenn. Because of the auto-immune condition from which she suffers, this is considered a high risk pregnancy. Praise God that so far, everything seems to be going well in the baby’s development.

The blessing doesn’t come without a cost, however. She’s suffered a lot of nausea (as many expectant mothers do) and for the baby’s sake, she can’t take some of the meds that were helping relieve her pain and other symptoms.

We thank the Lord for each one of you, our faithful support-team members. We enjoy hearing from those of you who write and we pray for you, as well.

Maranatha,

Steve & Eida Irwin
