Belated Merry Christmas & Happy 2015!

God has been SO GOOD to us. In an unexpected way, He made it possible for Esther & Curtis and the kids to come to California for the holidays. What joy to see them coming down the escalator at the San Francisco airport! [See picture above.]

For Thanksgiving, Art & Lenn invited us to their new home in Austin. During our visit, we got to help a little with the preparation of the nursery. All indications are that the baby is developing well. We really admire Lenn’s courage in handling the discomfort and pain of her illness. She was such a gracious hostess — but I’m afraid our visit exhausted her reserves of energy. Art is quite happy with his move to Tom Green & Co Engineers — it’s a growing firm with an environment that promotes professional growth and development.

Getting back to Christmas and New Year’s… we were happy to have Esther & Curtis and the grandkids at the “Cottle house” in San Jose (the Irwin home base for all my life) and getting to know their Irwin great-grandparents. The Bergmans also enjoyed a couple of visits to the Central Coast to visit Esther’s good friends from Atascadero Bible Church.

Living as they do near the shore of the Atlantic Ocean in Nova Scotia, they were excited to not only see, but touch the waters of the Pacific as we drove down Highway 1 on our way to Southern California.

In San Gabriel, we celebrated Grandpa Vern’s 88th birthday on the 26th — and the kids loved playing restaurant in the gazebo in Abuelita’s lovely garden.

On New Year’s Day, the Bergmans will fly home to Nova Scotia (Reuben is hoping for a flight-postponing snowstorm). The next day we plan to drive home to El Paso.

Among the highlights of this trip to California were the opportunities to visit two of the churches and some families on our support team, as well as getting a translation project completed. In the first months of 2015, I’m planning to push hard on checking and formatting the Firm Foundations revisions.

Eida is flourishing in her tutoring for kids with dyslexia. We’d be grateful if you would ask God to bring her more clients in 2015 in addition to raising up more support-team members for our SLR ministry.

We pray the Lord’s blessings on you in this New Year. May He use us all to share His truth with others in this darkened world which so desperately needs God’s light.

In Jesus’ love,

Steve & Eida Irwin
