Bringing your hopes and dreams

January 12, 2025 by Summer Zimmer

“Keep bringing your dreams and hopes to Him”

As we move from one year to the next, I always find it to be a good time to look back and look forward. I like to use this tool– Global Trellis’s Reflect on 2024 Prepare for 2025. It’s a good opportunity to remember God’s faithfulness and recognize the need to put it all in His capable hands once again. The New Year brings the possibility of a few new things for me, but also a renewed determination to continue diligently pursuing what He’s already placed before me.

Something I read on my break, from my friend Beka Burns’ book One Thing is Needed, she says, “My desires are not for no reason, they are just not always for this time. Part of trusting God is deciding to keep bringing your dreams and hopes to Him when you hit a delay or the plan changes.”

So as I make my plans and I share what I think is next, please pray for me— that I’ll keep trusting the Lord with what He gives me a vision for and then also trust Him to move every aspect of it forward in the right timing.

Gratitude and Joy!

Since my last newsletter was about grumbling, this one is about gratitude and joy! The last month and a half have truly been filled with blessing, so thank you for praying for me! All of the pictures in this newsletter show off someone or something that the Lord has used to bring me joy.

Two years ago someone gave me a two-year planner and encouraged me to write down what I was thankful for everyday. So, this year for Christmas, I gave out two-year planners and encouraged the same thing. I hosted four ThanksChristmas parties for the ladies to come over and decorate the planners with what they are thankful for with a collage of magazine pictures. It was a sweet time of fellowship and being creative.

Thanksgiving blessings with the traditional Turkey Trot with Jamie and then a lovely meal with the Sharpes and Lesickas. Then the next day I got to make Christmas Cookies with Jamie and her boys. I had the joy of helping to welcome back my friends the Adams, just in time to spend Christmas Day with them, as I have for the last several years. As a community we celebrated Christmas Eve with a candlelight service. On New Year’s Eve I was able to host a make-your-own pizza and games night! New Year’s Day I had a ladies’ brunch and it was super fun to connect with some ladies I don’t normally get to see. The year ended and started well!
