Welcome to dusty season

The weather here has been beautiful lately. The only problem is the dust. Welcome to dusty season . . .

Dusty season is when you have to wash your feet before going to bed because they are filthy since it has been an hour or two since you scrubbed them in the shower, (during which time you haven’t been outside) and your floors weren’t washed since that morning.

Dusty season is when you wash your desk off at 8am, then when you wash it at 11:30am the same day you get off a bunch more dust that has accumulated since then.

Dusty season is when you brush your hair and your hairbrush gets filthy from the dust you accumulated there over the day.

Dusty season is when you wipe clean the lawn chairs on your porch, and an hour later you wouldn’t dare sitting on them unless you washed them off again.

Dusty season is when your floors get as dirty in one day as they would in a month in the US.

Dusty season is when no matter what you do, everything gets a bit grimier. Even things inside your cabinets get dusty without you even opening the cabinet!

Dusty season is when you sneeze a lot every morning until the dust that you had breathed in during the night is finally out of your nose.

Dusty season is technically the time of the year when the wind blows us the sand from the Sahara, but all of the dirt roads (including dirt roads undergoing road construction), dirt courtyards, and dirt everything else decide to share in the joy and give you some more dust to add to it.

Dusty season is when it sometimes looks cloudy outside, but the clouds are just made out of dust.

Dusty season is when you have to make sure to have a rag under your motorcycle seat, so that you can wipe the dust off your seat before you go somewhere – and before you come back.

Dusty season is when you white-knuckle it while driving home from a friend’s house, since huge sections of the road have become loose sand – not the most convenient for driving a motorcycle and not falling down. At least this morning your wrists aren’t tired anymore from holding on so tight last night.

Dusty season is when the dust wins, no matter how good of a war you wage. So it’s no use being too concerned about it. Enjoy the time. Get things washed sometimes, and just wait for rainy season to come and settle the dust. Then the dust will be gone, leaving you with its close cousin – mud.
