I know that it’s been a while since I’ve posted about little Rachida, the one with retinoblastoma eye cancer. But if you look back in my blog over the past year, you’ll see many posts about her condition. Thank you so much for your continued prayers for her and her family!
The last time I posted an update about her was the beginning of March, and it was an encouraging one: blogs.ethnos360.org/susie-l/2017/03/03/good-news-update-on-rachida/. But today’s news is not as encouraging.
On Easter Sunday she headed back to Mali with her grandma Kadi for continued treatment. Shortly after that I went to Tanzania and was gone for almost a month, so it was just yesterday that I heard an update.
I heard that the doctors there say that it’s gotten much worse and she’s now in critical condition. There is some kind of organization that pays for children to get care in France, and so Rachida’s name was on the list because of her critical condition. But there were 4 little ones who needed to go and only two places, so they drew names to see who got to go get the care in France, and Rachida was one of the two who had to stay behind. I was told that a similar treatment to what the two sent to France are receiving is being sent to Mali to treat the two left behind, but it doesn’t sound very promising.
This is all I know. Except that God is still involved in their lives, no matter what happens. That He still has a plan. And that He is still good.
Would you pray with me for Rachida and her whole family? Thanks.
