How many of you have those friends that you no longer see regularly, but that whenever you see them you can pick up right where you left off? What a special kind of friendship that is, and it’s something I’ve been super blessed with over the last month – being able to spend time with people who are those kinds of friends. And what is even more miraculous and so like our God is that within the last month I’ve gotten to be with those kinds of friends on two different sides of the ocean!
Yes, about a month ago I went back to the US for my good friend Heather’s wedding. Having to give the maid of honor speech, I realized that we’ve been friends for 16 years – boy are we old! But though it’s been a while since we’ve seen each other, we were able to pick right back up as she kept me busy getting ready for her wedding. 😊 Congratulations Peter and Heather!
While in the US I also got to see other special friends, though it was a super short trip, so sorry if we weren’t able to get together!
Then recently I jumped the pond again, this time to My Country! Yes, I’m back here for at least a little while, and it’s absolutely lovely. I’m helping with some training in discourse analysis, but I’m also able to sneak some visits in with my friends here. And while it’s been a long time since we’ve been together, it’s amazing to me how many of them we can just pick right back up where we left off. It’s so nice to feel so at home. And I get to eat yummy food and drink yummy juice and sweat both day and night.
I don’t know how people who move around a lot more than I do, and so have a lot of different “home”s, can handle it, since I have a hard time keeping up with the few that I have. But I’m so grateful for the time I had in my US home recently, and the time I have in my My Country home right now. Thanks for your prayers!
