Yesterday I found myself browsing through the Bible book store searching for a gift. One thing in particular I was looking for was a bible with water resistant pages. As I gazed up and down the shelves devoted to bibles, I was overwhelmed with emotion. I have heard it before in many missions focused sermons, but seeing it with my own two eyes was breathtaking. The shelves contained more varieties of bibles than what can be found in a bag of Jelly Bellies. I thought of the effort, investment and time poured into each version and style, which lead my thoughts to ponder the people group Abby and I will be investing a good portion of our lives. They have not one version, format, style or special emphasis bible to enlighten them with the truth.
At this point in my excursion, an incredible sense of privilege and purpose welled up in my heart. What better thing could Abby and I do with our lives than to bring God’s Word to these people? At this point we do not know the specific ethnic group we will be in, but it won’t be long before we do. I hope that when we meet, the image of that shelf full of Bibles will return to my memory and drive me to work diligently.
Abby and I are not the only ones called to this task. If you are a part of the Body of Christ, you are too! You are bestowed with the privilege of bringing Gods Word to the ends of the earth. One way you can participate in that is by supporting Abby and I. We still need an additional $670.00 a month to be able to leave this January. Will you consider being a part of this great work? Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts to those of you who have offered your time, money and prayers on our behalf. Praise God for this team of people God is weaving together.
