Condensing in January 2008

January 7, 2008 by

Our daughter Heidi and family: Mark, Brandon and Austin on our previous visit to Idaho.

Happy New Year!

We just came back from seeing our kids and grandkids in Idaho. We had a great time together, and enjoyed the beautiful white snow – although I pulled my back while helping clear the driveway, and it still hurts a bit. Just before we left for Christmas, Martha’s dad had a major set-back, needed to be hospitalized, and then sent to a Nursing Home for rehabilitation. Her mom was invited to stay with her oldest son in Chattanooga while we were gone, and he or his brother drove mom down to visit dad in the Nursing Home most days. Although dad is still disoriented with his dementia, his physical therapy seems to be helping him. Mom is still adjusting to the life-change of both not having dad always home, and not having the responsibility of his care (although her memory for her own care is faltering.) We now need to make some decisions for long-term care for both dad and for mom.

We sure don’t know what this next year will bring, but we’re glad we know that the One who has never failed will not fail us in 2008. We still are working on the NTMC mission projects, like developing their 2-week WorldView Trip program. We are following the developments in Ivory Coast, as some of our former co-workers visit and others plan to move back there this year. We still keep in contact with our African distributor of the French "Building on Firm Foundations", wanting it to become readily available especailly to anyone using French as an avenue to reaching tribal languages with the Truth. Of course, we also enjoy participating in our local Baptist church choir, orchestra, small groups, and some custodial duties.

So let me condense our Praise & Prayer items for January  in the Link to the left.
