Beside my computer is a list of Thanksgiving preparations and plans for this coming week. Even though the culture around us does not celebrate the American Thanksgiving Holiday, we will still take time to meet as a team and celebrate together. Speaking of being thankful…We want to take time to thank each one of you for the ways you bless and support our family. We have had a few new monthly supporters, which is a real help and blessing for us. Thank you, we truly appreciate you and the investment you make into our family and ministry here in Asia Pacific!
(29 hours of travel!)
Have you ever been happy to get the absolute last row of seats in an airplane? Normally we wouldn’t be, but on our recent return to Asia-Pacific we were ecstatic to just be on the plane. A few days before our scheduled departure from Jacksonville, we learned our roundtrip tickets had been voided because we missed the first leg of our round-trip flight back in March. Because we had missed the first flight, that canceled all our flights including the return flights as well. We scrambled to see if there were new tickets that we could purchase. Long story short we were able to buy new tickets (the last 6 apparently) on the same flights that we had originally booked.
Upon arrival in Pontianak we dealt with a couple weeks of stomach flu, colds, and pink eye which we’re just now getting over. We also arrived just in time to help facilitate a fellowship of about 80 cross-cultural workers. It was an encouraging time of worship, teaching, and prayer! Thank you for those who gave financially or even purchased treats for us to bring back to share with the team here as we met!
Our Fellowship speaker was a friend from Florida
Tim had Lots of practice translating into Indonesian.
Spending time with the dorm girls that live beside our house!
School is underway for the kids and I. We are really glad to be into a good routine. Tim is heading into the village with a survey team this week. There will be some official meetings taking place to see what the interest level is for having a missionary team move in and begin serving there. We are excited to see how God will continue to work in this unreached area. Pray for their trip and that God would open a door for the gospel message.
Another season we have is Rain/Flood season! This is our yard and church that often becomes a lake after heavy rains! One of our neighbors actually caught a nice size catfish swimming through the yard when the water was high. He saw it moving in the grass and was able to chop it with his machete. We shared a nice fish lunch that day with our neighbors.
The Christmas season is also upon us and we’re looking forward to the emphasis of Immanuel and Peace. The Truth of Jesus truly wanting to be WTIH us and the sacrifice He made to show us that is AMAZING! As our world is in need of true Peace in so many contexts, we’re rejoicing in Him being our Prince of Peace who fills our hearts with Himself. That is true peace that passes all understanding! As you anticipate the Holiday season may you take intentional time to rest in the Truths from God’s Word and be refreshed in Him!
