There has not been much to write about in relation to the clinic and my medical work. Just the usual colds, well-child checks, back pain, sprained joints, cuts to treat, meds refilled, and other “usual” stuff. But after months of frequent emergencies we are grateful for “the usual” and this is actually a huge answer to prayer!
However, one story comes to my mind. Recently we had a national lady come for an appointment with concerns of abdominal pain. During our discussion of her illness, she told us that she is from an area a bit distant from here. She is so excited that missionaries are learning her Tok Ples (talk place = her heart language) so that they can soon present the gospel. The complexities of the language and other significant issues have arisen in the past to prevent missionaries who started in the work from continuing. At least twice before, missionaries have moved in and begun work but for many reasons, were unable to return and continue. Now, however, God has granted much grace, and there is a missionary family close to finishing their language and culture acquisition, hoping to be ready to begin teaching the Gospel by the end of this year/beginning of next year! This sweet woman has been away from her Tok Ples (in this case, her village) for 20+ years but had not stopped praying that God would send missionaries who could stay and teach the gospel to her people! She is so sweetly grateful to God and excited to hear of how God is answering her prayers! She came to us for help but we felt that we received much more that day than she did! How amazing to see God answering prayers with a yes in His perfect timing!
