It sounds strange, but because of sin, everyone starts out life enemies of God (Romans 3:23; 5:10). Yet God offers real hope for a new relationship found only in Jesus. God so loved His enemies that He sent Jesus so that sinful people could be forgiven and become His friends (John 3:16). Today, Jesus sends His ambassadors throughout the world to proclaim His good news to all of humanity (2 Cor. 5:18-20).
But, the “Good News” of Jesus Christ remains unknown by billions of people in this world. They still live in darkness! They do not have one single ambassador of Christ living among them! How will they hear about God’s terms of peace? How can they ever believe in Jesus if no one goes and tells them?

During the Roman Empire, Roman ambassadors took Rome’s terms for peace to rebellious provinces. Only Rome’s terms for peace were acceptable to Rome, there were no negotiations. If Rome’s terms were rejected, the people faced the merciless wrath of the Roman Empire. If they accepted Rome’s terms, then the province would have peace.
Christians are God’s ambassadors proclaiming His terms for peace to a rebellious world. Only His terms are acceptable, there are no negotiations. God’s terms can only be accepted by faith in Jesus Christ. Much of the world remains in the “dark” about God’s terms for peace. Because of this, we make every effort to “reach into the darkness” and make Christ known where He is yet unknown.
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” Together, we can train and send out fellow ambassadors into the vast darkness and make Christ known.
