Our Mr. Jude

June 30, 2010 by Tom

Often we get asked about how Jude is doing, so I thought I would take this opportunity to be a gushing mother and tell you!  Sometimes its crazy to think about how Jude is almost 15 months old now.  We can’t believe how big he is getting and all the ways that he is beginning to act like a little boy and not a baby.  He is walking all the time (he is trying to run too) and can pick himself up when he falls.

In the last couple weeks he has started being quite the climber.  He will use whatever he can to get to a higher level whether that is a stack of books, a step stool or a bucket-he will find a way to get on top of it!  Of course this means we must be extra attentive to what he is doing so there is never a dull moment.

Jude’s favorite foods right now are bananas (which he loves taking WAY too big of bites out of), fruit smoothies, bread and Cheerios!   He loves meal times, snack times and bath times and is always in the mood for some exploring in the yard.  Jude can say “Mamma,” “Dadda” and tries to say Dog by saying “Dah!”.   The times we laugh most at him are when he dances to songs we play, tastes something sour or tries to “race” us on the side walk.  He also LOVES nursery or anytime he can interact with other kids/babies and he also LOVES animals-especially if he can touch them.

We feel like we are learning a lot about how to be good parents to Jude and pray often that God would give us wisdom to make the right decisions for him.  It is very rewarding to watch him learn to obey us and difficult when he chooses to disobey and has to learn about consequences.  He is a smart little guy and we can tell more and more the times when he is making a choice to go against what we have told him.  But we continue to rely on the Lord and most of all we thank Him for the privilege to be his parents.  We LOVE this kid SO much.  He is amazing!  So, there you are. That is how Jude is.

I can imagine all you are saying about Jude. Independent thinker, etc. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! Ha!

Really, truly a precious boy, and I do miss him.
I hope he won’t have an aversion to me whenever I do see him next!

Thanks so much for this! The pictures are great and it’s nice to see how your little bundle is doing (although “bundle” is a less appropriate term now that he’s moving so much)!!! Love being a mommy together with you. Kaelen is behind as usual and has just begun to experiment with crawling. I’m not worried as it seems he takes his time to reach new milestones… has been a blessing with the move that he hasn’t been getting into everything, or able to wander off! Hoping to see you sometime before you leave.
