The biggest stressor we dealt with before leaving Australia had to do with our luggage and all the restrictions we faced on the airline that would take us to our destination. For reasons that would take too long to explain, we had not known about a few of the weight limits that would be put on us for those flights.
According the airlines policy’s it looked like it was going to cost us around $1,000 (yes, this was very stressful!) just to check our bags! As you can imagine this was the last thing we wanted to have to deal with. Our bank card was being denied when we tried to use it (even though we had informed our bank we would be using it overseas etc.) So between wondering how we would afford such charges as well as how we would even access our money, it was VERY stressful! I think we can safely say it was the most stressful situation we have ever been in. Yeah-it was bad. So, with no other option than to keep going- we did. After we prayed a lot of course… 🙂
When we got to the airport and started having our bags weighed we were inwardly cringing. The ladies at the desk joked with us, “ What do you think you are doing? Moving house?” Aimee answered, “Yes, we are”. The ladies were a bit surprised but were very nice to us. Then after one lady went into the back room to talk with someone, she came back and informed us that the supervisor had decided to allow us ten more kilo’s each on our weigh limit (that’s 22 pounds)! We were shocked!
In addition-they only charged us once (since we had booked another flight separately to get on we thought we would be charged twice for our baggage) and that was a HUGE relief.
So, basically from thinking it would cost us $1,000 it actually ended up costing us $350. On top of all that, we had been given a special gift of $400 just to cover our luggage fees so it was perfect! We were/are so in awe of how the Lord went before us and took care of everything. I almost burst into tears I was so happy. WOW. God is good and yet again he reminded us that we do not have to worry about anything, He takes care of us and knows what we need EXACTLY when we need it. Amazing!
