One of the great highlights of our summer was having visits from family and being able to see people we dearly love. Now that we serve as missionaries here in Mexico it is much easier for people to visit us and we are so thankful that some have!
Even though Jude was off school for the summer, Tom and I, his parents were most certainly not. 🙂 Even though we kept up our full time schedule of study and ministry at the orphanage it was really nice to have some blessed “interruptions” of visitors or trips to break up the usual routine.
This blog will mostly be pictures to highlight the visits we made and the visitors we had. We give so much thanks to the Lord for encouraging our hearts through loved ones coming all the way to us here in Mexico!
Going WAY back- in March, I (Beth) was able to have a super last minute and HUMUNGO surprise visit with our dear friend and prior co-worker Aimee. She flew home to California (from PNG) for a brief surprise visit and rest with her family and I got to go see her for a whirl wind three days in her home town in California.
Our time was incredibly special and encouraging and I thank God for it. We miss ministering together but we thank the Lord for our bonds of friendship and how He has allowed us to stay close even after we were no longer ministry partners. I was also so blessed to spend time with Aimee’s family and friends whom she has graciously shared with us over the years. 🙂 It was like visiting “home” not just because of Aimee! What an amazing thing it is to be in the body of Christ and experience fellowship like this!
In June, of this year we had a visit from my parents here in Mexico. Last year we had a brief visit from my Mom but this time both my parents came and it was great! The week with them flew by and we made memories here in Mexico, not doing anything remarkable per say but just playing with the kids, talking and eating!
Story time and jumping on the trampoline were just some of the special (and funny moments) the kids had with their grandparents. We are so thankful that the kids had this chance to make more memories as older kids with their grandparents.
We showed my parents what it’s like shopping at a second hand market while they were with us!
In July, we were blessed by a visit from Tom’s Mom! This was her first visit to Mexico and it was eventful!
She ended up needing some dental work while she was down here which surprised us all but gave her a great chance to get to know our sweet dentists! They treated her so well and made her needs their top priority knowing she was only here for a short time. We were so thankful for their kindness. We laughed a lot with “Grammy” and Tom had an especially fun time teasing his mommy and having long talks. 🙂
The kids got totally spoiled with all the treats she brought for them and thoroughly enjoyed reconnecting with their Grammy who they had not seen in over two years! It was a great visit!
The summer is coming to a close now but we got to squeeze one last little trip in before the kids start school! Our prior co-workers from PNG, the Beall family, were home on a home assignment for only a week more so we drove to their area in Texas to visit them before they returned to PNG. It was such a special visit felt like we were simply seeing more family who we had been missing dearly.
We got to see all but one of the Beall kids + the spouses of those who are married and we even got to meet the first Beall grand baby! It was so wonderful and the time flew by way too quickly!
While in the Fort Worth area of Texas Tom was able to see a friend of ours from Michigan, Douglas Buhrer, and we got to have dinner with some former staff from when we were in Bible school, Michael & Lee-Ann McKay! Such a blessing and encouragement!
We returned from our road trip in Texas with a few weeks to prepare for big changes in our schedule with school starting for the kids and differences in our class schedules too.
It’s a blessing to think back on the special times the Lord gave us with these loved people!
