It was a beautiful day that began with a gorgeous sunrise over the Mexican mountains that surround Vicente and Erendira’s village home. The birds were singing and everything was perfectly picturesque. About mid morning Vicente headed down the road to a small store nearby. He hadn’t gotten very far when one of his friends caught up to him and desperately pleaded for his help! At first Vicente thought the man might need him to take him to a doctor because he looked sort of ill but the reality was something very different! The man asked him to please come help him get his horse out of a hole!
Apparently the night before, the horse had been innocently running through the field along with other horses when he suddenly went too close to a new well that was being dug. The poor horse had fallen into the well hole that was over 16 feet deep! Vicente went with the man right away and soon saw for himself that the man had not been exaggerating!
Vicente helped the group who had gathered at the well and little by little the men filled in the well in enough to dig away a small ravine in one side to allow the poor frightened horse to climb out. It was a long and very tiring process but finally the horse was freed!
Having been a part of the rescue of the horse from the well, Vicente was reminded of truth through the unique experience. Below in blue text is what Vicente had to say:
In Matthew 28: 18-20 the Lord Jesus tells us to proclaim His message throughout the world and like us, many have responded in obedience to this command.
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matt. 28:18-20
Five years ago we said to the Lord, “Yes Lord, we want to go.” In these five years so much has happened here in our ministry and on many occasions we have forgotten the Lord. On many occasions we felt like we had fallen in a well and that there was no way out.
In these times we tried to get out but we could not. It was then that we read these verses again and discovered that we were forgetting the Lord. We were in the Lord’s work but we were forgetting Him! After realizing the wrong way we were thinking, it was then that we asked the Lord for forgiveness and asked for His help.
Today I can say that the Lord has been good; He has helped us to get out of all kinds of problems, physical and emotional. Dear brother or sister in Christ, in these verses we not only find the command to go but also the promise that He will always be with us. If you, my spiritual sibling feel that you are in a well, I encourage you to ask the Lord for help, I have done it and the Lord has answered me.
We are so thankful for Vicente and his wife Erendira who are serving faithfully so that more people like themselves can come to know the Savior!
Please pray that the Lord will provide coworkers soon for this wonderful couple! The harvest is plentiful yet the workers are few. We thank God for His unique and comforting reminder to Vicente and Erendira that they are not alone, He is with them every step of the way and will never leave them or forsake them!
Pray also that those who are hearing God’s word being taught by Vicente in their own heart language would be convinced of it’s truth and place their faith in Christ as their Savior! Christ is building His church and we praise Him for that!
